This policy will enable Beat Routes to demonstrate its commitment to keeping safe the vulnerable people with whom it works. Beat Routes acknowledges its duty to act appropriately to any allegations, reports or suspicions of abuse.
We define ‘abuse’ as a violation of an individual’s human and civil rights, and we recognise that it can take many forms. The staff and volunteers at Beat Routes are committed to practices which promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and safeguards them from harm. It is acknowledged that significant numbers of vulnerable people are abused, and it is important that Beat Routes has a Safeguarding Policy, a set of procedures to follow and puts in place preventative measures to try and reduce those numbers.
The policy applies to all staff, including management, trustees, committee members, volunteers, sessional workers, agency staff, students and anyone working on behalf of Beat Routes. We have this policy in place in order to prevent abuse and know what to do in the event of abuse.
